Prologue: I have been meaning to write a series about Holidays and Observances that we (my family and friends) follow in both India (my birth country) and USA (my adopted country). This series is dedicated to those. On a side note, perhaps I might witness some of the celebrations from other countries as well that may get their way into this series. š
A day that you honor all the fallen soldiers in the US Armed Forces falls on the last Monday in the month of May every year (20th May 2023). Originally called as Decoration Day, it is a somber day filled with American history and traditions.
Also signifies the unofficial start of summer making folks spend their long weekend at beaches, picnics, swimming pools and parks. We spent the day watching the final match of IPL (Indian Premier League) Cricket match between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans. It was a blast of a match and nail biting till the last ball with CSK coming out on top bagging their 5th IPL Trophy.
