Holidays & Observances: Labor Day in USA

Prologue: I have been meaning to write a series about Holidays and Observances that we (my family and friends) follow in both India (my birth country) and USA (my adopted country). This series is dedicated to those. On a side note, perhaps I might witness some of the celebrations from other countries as well that may get their way into this series. šŸ™‚

Every year the first Monday of September is celebrated as Labor Day, this year it was on Sept 4th (2023). Although it is one day, festivities occur all weekend. It is a day to celebrate American workers and also marks the unofficial end of Summer.

People celebrate with the day with picnics, sports events, and street parades. Originally started in 1882 this is the last holiday before Fall begins in United States.
