Holidays & Observances: Teacher’s Day in India

For all the posts in this Holidays & Observances series, go here.

Prologue: I have been meaning to write a series about Holidays and Observances that we (my family and friends) follow in both India (my birth country) and USA (my adopted country). This series is dedicated to those. On a side note, perhaps I might witness some of the celebrations from other countries as well that may get their way into this series. šŸ™‚

In honor of the second President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India celebrates Teacher’s Day on his birth anniversary annually on Sept 5th (2023). He was a respected Academic before he joined politics. He was a Professor at many colleges and was Principal of Harris Manchester College in Oxford, where he would lecture on comparative religion.

This is a day when everyone celebrates the teachers in their life, all forms of them, who shape the future of the society by having a profound impact on their students.
