Holidays & Observances: Veteran’s Day

Prologue: I have been meaning to write a series about Holidays and Observances that we (my family and friends) follow in both India (my birth country) and USA (my adopted country). This series is dedicated to those. On a side note, perhaps I might witness some of the celebrations from other countries as well that may get their way into this series. šŸ™‚

When Indians all over were celebrating Choti Diwali, Americans annually pay homage to all war Veterans, past and present, on Nov 11th dedicated as Veterans Day. Formerly known as Armistice Day, history shows that major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918.

Here is a picture of the Q Bridge in New Haven that was decked up in red white and blue for this year’s Veteran’s Day.
