Mod & Groovy: Saree made into a Gown

For all posts in this series, go here.

Prologue: This series brings forth fashion and style from my wardrobe. These could be a little different way of styling the clothing or wearing something with unique design or repurposed fabric or sometimes simply reusing something for a different purpose.

Another upcycle project. I turned this multi-hued Benares Artificial Silk (= Made by manufacturers from the town of Benares, India) saree into a long gown. It is bluish green with black, gold and red motifs woven into the saree that formed perfect vertical panes for the gown. The Pallu (= portion that goes from front of your body and over the shoulder) is maroon and black with gold artificial zari motifs woven in; along with patterns made of black and red which it became the top portion of the gown.

My friend and I had some fun photoshoot at a railroad, sort of abandoned and also by the Connecticut River close by. Here are some fun pictures from that photoshoot.

It was so cold and windy that a coat was definitely needed. And here is a fun one that my friend took of me with my favorite gadget at hand. πŸ™‚
