Prologue: This is a 31 day event that helps poets and authors all over to pen down 31 new poems in the month of December (2023). Every day we can open the calendar for that day to read about the prompt for that day. Then let your imagination fly to infinity with your thoughts and voice.
For Day 5 the Prompt given to us was to compose a piece whose title begins “The Secret of…” inspired by Poet Aimee Nezhukumatathil’s poem titled “The Secret of Soil”. Here is my short poem.
Prompt 5: The Secret of Rain
Rain evokes moods – low and sulky; mysterious and gloomy
Yet heart smiles – pleased and happy; laughing in ecstasy.
Refreshing April showers or chilling September rains
Makes one feel and smell the blissful romance that floats.
Petrichor, the golden fluid from the veins of immortals
Flows down to earth drenching us mere mortals
In the rich fragrance, opening minds to worlds unknown
Hurling us into funnel of thoughts mind blown.
