Prologue: This is a 31 day event that helps poets and authors all over to pen down 31 new poems in the month of December (2023). Every day we can open the calendar for that day to read about the prompt for that day. Then let your imagination fly to infinity with your thoughts and voice.
For Day 7 the Prompt given to us was all about Total Recall. Writing a poem to recall a scene or situation in your life that no one want to remember again. Here is my version.
Prompt 7: Night with Martinis and Margaritas
Martinis and margaritas filled the evening along side
Fun banter; while music blasted on the speakers wide.
Out came Tequila shots with salt on your fingers
Finishing off sucking the tart and sharp picklers.
Talks about lost friends; missed connections and heart breaks;
Memories floated around like melting snowflakes.
New bonds formed; never before words spoken
Feelings expressed; thoughts revealed unbidden.
Long into the night the conversations continued.
Bright golden circle warmed our faces stroking gently.
Everything came back awash as all understood
Shocked at the revelations; embarrassed sweetly.
Will they remember what we shared that night
Long ago? Will they think back and feel compelled
To revisit the feeling? Or scamper away affright?
Yet I remain here bedazzled and befuddled.
