Two Sylvias Press Advent Calendar challenge: Day 9

For all the poems in this Two Sylvias Press Advent Calendar challenge for 2023, visit my musings here.

Prologue: This is a 31 day event that helps poets and authors all over to pen down 31 new poems in the month of December (2023). Every day we can open the calendar for that day to read about the prompt for that day. Then let your imagination fly to infinity with your thoughts and voice.

For Day 9 the Prompt given to us was to write a poem to show how something was made or created. It could be any object, or an abstract feeling or thought. Here is my version.

Prompt 9: How Electricity Was Made

One fine morning Lord Indra, the god of lightning
While watching mortals on Earth ignite a flint
To light fire, smiling at their absurdity
Had an epiphany to leave his imprint.

With the power vested in him, he flexed his arms
Pushing into his fingers the pulsing wave of energy;
Flicking with a twist passed it into the rudimentary lamps
Helping the genius Einstein further his discovery.

Voila! The magic of light condensed into a tiny bulb
Made by 1 part realization; 4 parts sheer tenacity
Traveling 1.6 billion miles at a speed of a gulp
And mankind found a new charge called Electricity.
