Prologue: This is a 31 day event that helps poets and authors all over to pen down 31 new poems in the month of December (2023). Every day we can open the calendar for that day to read about the prompt for that day. Then let your imagination fly to infinity with your thoughts and voice.
For Day 20 the Prompt given to us was to write a poem revealing your secret from a third person’s narration; use another gender if needed; and repeat a metaphor significant to you. I took a totally different person as my subject with mu favorite jewelry as a metaphor.
Prompt 20: Secret Treasures of Lost Souls
He keeps them hidden in his closet; a closet so secret
That he opens every night to look at the treasures.
A secret if revealed would remove his security blanket
And he doesn’t want to reveal all his tippers.
Slowly and silently he sneaks them out one by one
Lays them on his bed stroking them gently with love
And affection feelings he normally considers foreign.
Reminisces memories behind and smartly wove.
Taking one of the charms into his hands, an earring
He took off from his very first hunt, a pretty
Girl of just 16 who had a passion for living.
Fortunately she became his cute little kitty.
Then he wears the fancy bracelet studded with stones
Which he had taken from a rich and bloated landlord.
One fine night he had charged into his bones
Before taking the bracelet as his special award.
Finally he pulls the bright and colorful scarf
Drapes it around his neck while he thought
About the tender flesh he pressed with the golf
Stick he had used to play while his prey was caught.
Now he puts them back into his secret closet
Rubbing his hands in anticipation as adrenaline
Pumps and rushes; looking at the banquet
Of various souls he would lure into his cabin.
