Mod & Groovy: Graduation Saree

Prologue: This series brings forth fashion and style from my wardrobe. These could be a little different way of styling the clothing or wearing something with unique design or repurposed fabric or sometimes simply reusing something for a different purpose.

After almost 25 years of completing my college and post-graduation in India, I had picked up a graduation program at University of Connecticut (UCONN) in 2020, a program that would add another layer for my professional resume. I graduated from that program in May of 2022 and had a small gathering with my good friends.

I wore this A-Z lettered saree in Blue and White (colors of UCONN are Blue, White and Grey) with a Blue Tanzanite stone Gold Necklace and Earrings with color-coordinated bangles on my wrists. I am holding a huge blow-up diploma with “Done” written on it.

I hand-made a few decorations for the party – the banner behind the photobooth; these star shaped hanging for the doors; the book-themes tiles made of old novels that I was donating away; and the return gifts bag made of newspapers.
