I finally got to watch a cricket match in which India played in the month of June 2024. The T20 World Cup this time came to US and West Indies. One of the group stage matches between India and Ireland happened in New York City. My friend and I geared up for our visit with brand clothes representing Indian team and our own self decorated placards.
Watching the team warm up, then play almost butchering Ireland was pure pleasure. I also got to catch a Clean Bowled on my camera.
I mainly came to watch the match for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Little did I know that these two and our very own MR. Dependable, Rahul Dravid, coach of Indian cricket team would be retiring in just 3 weeks from this match. Kohli and Sharma retired from this format of cricket, but we get to see them in One-Day Internationals and Test cricket still. As for Dravid, he stepped down as the coach. Sad to see three legends leave.
Cricket is like a fever in India, although Hockey is the national game of India. The fever has now come to USA and in 2028 Olympics Cricket is one of the new sport being added. The last time Cricket was part of Olympics was in 1900. Looking forward to see an Olympic match in Los Angeles in 2028 – just have to figure out is it USA or India I will be rooting for. 😛
