Bites N Flavors – Café Flo, Old Lyme, Connecticut

For posts on various restaurants that I visited, go here.

Prologue: May 10th is National Small Business Day. One of those are these cute little mom and pop restaurants or locally owned cafes and dive-ins. This series brings forth those little nuggets of places that I visit for my meals.

Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, CT came with its own little café, Café Flo. It was all outdoor seating and open thru Oct 31st usually. So when we went to see the wee fairie town, we stopped by for brunch. Unfortunately that particular day was very cold and windy so outdoor seating chilled our bones. However the views across are beautiful overlooking the river.

Verdictum: A cold and windy day marred our experience a little, but the warm food charmed us. Cute little café that can be enjoyed better on a warm day.

Here are my 2 cents:

First Impressions:

Beautiful views of the surroundings over the river.

Weather appropriate menu helped us to quickly warm ourselves.

Courteous waiters and easy on the wallet menu. Check out the menu that comes in the form of a painter’s pallette. An ode perhaps to the artist’s colony that was before it became the museum.

Amelioration:

I know the restaurant doesn’t stay open beyond October, but would have been nice to have space heaters around for those cold days.
