From the 1997 Indian Hindi language musical romance film Dil To Pagal Hai ( = The Heart is Crazy) (DTPH). Sung my Lata Mangeshkar and Kumar Sanu to the Lyrics penned by Anand Bakshi and Music composed by Uttam Singh.

I have seen this movie several times, but had never seen this song in the film. Yet it is part of the film’s album and my curiosity piqued. Turns out Yash Chopra launched an unreleased song from this film in 2008 through his YRF Music Label. This was a Diwali gift to Lata-ji from Yash-ji, although her last known song was Luppa Chuppi, a lullaby from the 2006 Indian Hindi language epic coming of the age socio political action film Rang De Basanti ( = Paint Me Saffron), composed by A. R. Rahman.

Yash-ji released this song as part of the album titled “Tum Paas Aa Rahe Ho” with 13 other love songs. Incidentally, the title of the album is also a song from the 2004 Hindi Indian language epic romantic drama musical film Veer-Zara.

This song reminds us so much of Chaand Ne Kuch Kaha which replaced this song in the movie. The premise of both songs is the same. And this was the only song sung by Kumar Sanu for the film. It definitely did not set the pace with other songs. Perhaps that’s why it was never filmed in the movie.

This makes me wonder what happened to all those songs that were recorded but never filmed in the films or released in the so many movies made in India. Would love to have them released again and listen to them just to experience the greatness from so many talented artists from yester years.
