Bites N Flavors – Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Puerta Vallarta Airport, Mexico

For posts on various restaurants that I visited, go here.

Prologue: May 10th is National Small Business Day. One of those are these cute little mom and pop restaurants or locally owned cafes and dive-ins. This series brings forth those little nuggets of places that I visit for my meals.

We didn’t go in and taste the food or drinks, but was interesting to see this restaurant that essentially was based off of the 1994 American Comedy / Romance film Forrest Gump which was based of the 1986 novel of the same name, written by Winston Groom. Interesting of note is that there is a scene in the story where Forrest promises to open a Shrimp restaurant to his friend Bubba who dies of war injuries. Bubba actually always dreams of it. So, it was interesting to see the restaurant come to life.

Verdictum: Didn’t eat or drink, but loved the fact that restaurant came to life from a scene in the original film / novel Forrest Gump. Shrimp is indeed the fruit of the sea, for those who eat this fruit. 🙂

Here are my 2 cents:

First Impressions:

Having not eaten, cannot comment on that.

Interior were very close to what we read or see in Forrest Gump. We see the tables filled with  tags titled “Run Forrest Run”, the famous line from the story.

Note there is a nook for Lt. Dan as well. The bar area is called Lt. Dan’s getaway in honor of Forrest and Bubba’s lieutenant.
