Prologue: A series that showcases the large statues, beautiful temples and churches I visit in my travels or I accidentally come across while taking an off-beaten path. And sometimes yes, I would include buildings and palaces too.
On the last day of my visit to Foley, AL, my friend took me to a local museum called Holmes Medical Museum. Having been watching the new spin-off on Holmes, Watson, TV Show, this museum intrigued me. Originally called Sibley Holmes Memorial Hospital in the 1936, was opened by Dr. Sibley Holmes; and his kids followed too until the hospital was kept open. We got to see the equipment that was used back then, how the various rooms were (Doctor’s Bags; Operation Theater; Doctor’s Lounge, Doctor’s Offices; Reception Room; a Nursery; Pharmacist’s Oath; Ice Box; Kitchen; And of course a picture with the wheel chairs of that time ) and even the uniforms the nurses wore.

We saw a location for Kennedy’s Grocery & Market that was in the neighborhood that was preserved in the museum.

Checkout how the nurses uniforms changed over the ages (1200 – 1930s) considering nuns were playing nurses’ role on the 13th century.

Check out how the nursery looked back then; and here are some of the Holmes Babies born there.
