Leafing Through Pages – His Brother’s Keeper

Stars: 2 / 5

Recommendation: It was hard to imagine what the author was trying to convey to the reader. So much prose went into the description of each scene. Not sure if there was another way to write the take. That’s why it bored a lot.

His Brother’s Keeper is the fifth novella in The Unquiet anthology book in January of 2011 in which Nora published her novella with four of her recurring authors – Mary Blayney, Patricia Gaffney, Ruth Ryan Langan and Mary Kay McComas. This novella is written by Mary Kay McComas.

In this novella, a children’s book author Ivy Bonner, comes to rest in luxurious cabin of her mother’s friend, to recoup. Little did she know what awaits her. Her next door neighbor Craig Tenner’s brother’s ghost worms his way into Ivy’s dreams telling her to tell something to Craig. The rest of the story is how they work the dream, the message from Craig’s brother and at the same time find each other.

Goodreads has this as “Her Brother’s Keeper” as opposed to the original title. Because of which it was hard to find originally. There is no one who reviewed this book, but some have made stars to it.

It is a rather short story even for a novella which delves into the minds of our protagonists, specially into their dreams. But it bored me a lot. May be because I was not well during the time this story was being read or there is lot of prose involved.
