Two Sylvias Press Advent Calendar challenge 2025: Day 2

For all the poems in this Two Sylvias Press Advent Calendar challenge, visit my musings here.

Prologue: This is a 31 day event that helps poets and authors all over to pen down 31 new poems in the month of December (2025). Every day we can open the calendar for that day to read about the prompt for that day. Then let your imagination fly to infinity with your thoughts and voice.

Note: I am starting late so might post my poems more than one a day. 🙂

For Day 2 the Prompt given to us was to write a self-portrait as something totally unexpected. Here is my take on it.

Crayons On The Creative Table

If I Were A YELLOW Crayon, Would Spread Bundles Of Joy,

Warm And Sunshiny Cheers, Call Upon Hope, Ahoy!

If I Were A WHITE Crayon, Filled With Innocence Of Child,

Soften The Life’s Hard Lines, Let Go Just Pure And Wild.

If I Were A RED Crayon, Would Make A Cupid Out Of Devil,

Empower The Passion Of Love, Hinder The Unwanted With An Anvil.

If I Were A PURPLE Crayon, Delicate As Silk, Won’t I Be Precious

As A Diamond? Exude Royalty, And Nothing But Being Gracious.

If I Were A PINK Crayon, Wonderful To Be Sweet As Candy,

Soft As Baby, Sugar And Spice, Evertything Nice And Dandy.

If I Were An ORANGE Crayon, Paint The Town With Vibrant Energy,

Tingle The Leaves Of Fall, In Calming The Hot Sun; Be Splurgy.

If I Were An INDIGO Crayon, Deepen The Mystic Midnight Sky,

Put Thoughts Profound, Inspire Insights, Playful And Frisky.

If I Were A GREEN Crayon, Will Cast A Lovely Spring Of Health

On Nature, Rejuvenate The Spirit Of Growth, Soul’s Wealth.

If I Were A BROWN Crayon, Count Me On, I Am Dependable.

Simplicty Is My Path, Ever-Friendly And Easily Bondable.

If I Were A BLUE Crayon, Intrigue With Mystery; Excitement,

Yet Soothing And Peaceful, Forming A Stable Complement.

If I Were A BLACK Crayon, Call Me Conventional, Call Me Sexy,

Am Absence Of Ill-Will, Two Moods On One Face, Serious And Foxy.
