Prologue: This is a 31 day event that helps poets and authors all over to pen down 31 new poems in the month of December (2025). Every day we can open the calendar for that day to read about the prompt for that day. Then let your imagination fly to infinity with your thoughts and voice.
Note: I am starting late so might post my poems more than one a day. 🙂
For Day 5 the Prompt given to us was to write about one’s experience through their formative years, no year mentioned but things that happened in whatever year one picked. Here is my take.
The Year Filled With Happiness And No Pain In Sight
Among The Bell Bottoms, Wrap Dresses And Leisure Suits
We Ended The Famous Vietnam War
But Lots Of TV Shows And Movies Grabbed Everyone’s Attention.
Jaws Scared The People To Go To Beaches
But Pet Rocks Entertained Them Enough To Forget Sharks.
Discos And Bohemian Chic Clash With Each Other
But Somehow They Blend Into The Lifestyle Of The Era.
Mood Rings Changing Color With Body Temperature
But Slid Well On One’s Finger To Identify One’s Mood.
Commercials Became More Entertaining Like Kool-Aid
But The Price Of Gas Was Only 53 Cents Per Gallon.
Biggest Thing Is That Women Were Enrolled Into Coast Guard
Making The Start Of Women In The Military.
I Love The Era I Came From, And Wish The Future Generation
Know More About Where They Came From Before Ending
In Fights, Wars And Politics That Give Only Pain.
