Prologue: This is a 31 day event that helps poets and authors all over to pen down 31 new poems in the month of December (2025). Every day we can open the calendar for that day to read about the prompt for that day. Then let your imagination fly to infinity with your thoughts and voice.
Note: I am starting late so might post my poems more than one a day. 🙂
For Day 8 the Prompt given to us was to write a surreal poem on relationship that begins at a painfully ordinary place, but the impossible creeps into it until the ordinary collapses. Here is my take.
Starbuck’s Line Is Unexpected
At The Starbuck’s Line I First See Him
Picking Up A Cup Of Cappuccino.
Oh Wait, He Went For An Egg Bite
And Looked Around While Paying The Order.
Our Eyes Locked And A Surprise Flitted In His.
For He Was Looking At Something Behind Me
And I Looked Back To See The Same
And Was Stunned When Sign Board Came To Life
Singing The Menu That The Store Carried.
Then The Car At The Drive-Thru Was Impatient
That His Coffee Was Delayed And Instead
Had To Opt For Tea, And Flew Away In Anger.
I Looked Back At Him, And He Turned Into A Creature
With Wings, Still Holding His Egg Bite In Hand.
Waved At Me As He Floated Away To Calm Down
The Car That Flew, With His Cappuccino.
