Prologue: This is a 31 day event that helps poets and authors all over to pen down 31 new poems in the month of December (2025). Every day we can open the calendar for that day to read about the prompt for that day. Then let your imagination fly to infinity with your thoughts and voice.
Note: I am starting late so might post my poems more than one a day. 🙂
For Day 10 the Prompt given to us was to write a poem for an object that has no business to talk but a lot to say. It should be in first-person and let the object gloat, confess or ran, as if it has been waiting for years to tell its story. Here is my take.
Life Of A Pen
New And A Baby; Amidst The Pros Everyone Around
Knew Exactly How To Go Ahead In The Game.
Brought In From Hospital Where I Was Birthed
Freshly Wrapped In A Velvet Box As If Hidden From Shame.
Some Benefactor Took Me And Placed Me In A Huge Box
Before Checking If My Tummy Was Full, Place Me With Others
Who Looked Like Me But Different In Dress, Attire And Looks
Made Me Feel Proud To Be Beside Them, So I Can Usher
A Traveling Salesman Took All Of Us In His Big Truck
To Take Us To Our New Home, Put In A Special Spot.
We Were Front And Center Between A Vase And A Mug
With All The Caresses And Nods I Caught.
Made Me Feel Superior But Very Lonely
As My Peers Got Good Offers To Go Feel Special.
Until The Traveling Salesman Put Me In A Corner Coldly
But Then He Placed Me On Top Shelf Beside A Pencil
Days And Weeks Passed As I Waited
For That Unique Person Who Made Me Part Of Their Life
But I Was Neglected, Kept Unclean And Very Jaded
Prayers Went Unnoticed, Fell Back To Me Like A Knife
A Miracle Happened When An Old Man Came In Looking
For A Companion For His Grandson, And He Picked Me
To Take Me With Him, Riding With Him Feeling
On Top Of The World And Finally Set Free
