Prologue: This is a 31 day event that helps poets and authors all over to pen down 31 new poems in the month of December (2025). Every day we can open the calendar for that day to read about the prompt for that day. Then let your imagination fly to infinity with your thoughts and voice.
Note: I am starting late so might post my poems more than one a day. 🙂
For Day 10 the Prompt given to us was to write a poem where Emily Dickinson (or her ghost) appears in one’s home. We have to allow her voice into the peom and consider quoting a few lines from her poems. It was hard to write her because she is such an excellent poet. I hope I justified her. Here is my take.
Emily By The Fairy Lights
Ah Emily! I See You By The Fairy Christmas Lights In The Room
No Wonder You Appeared As You Were Influence By Metaphysical Poets.
Discovered By Her Family Her Fascicles – Hand Written By Your Plume
With All Your Dashes And Wit – And Bound Into A Leaflets.
Hard To Emulate You, As You Were One Of The Greatest
All The Letters You Can Write Are Not Fair Or Sweet.
Your Death – It Is Exempt For Change – But Very Privatest
Like The Two Butterflies That Went Out At Noon And Beat.
“Oh Please” – Said Emily, Playing With The Ball Of Snow
“The Sun Does Not Allow To Intercept His Yellow Plans
I Am Just Busy As The Small Bee – Creating A Show
With A Move Here, A Flutter There, And An Entire Dance”
“But With Your Words You Made A Prairie” I said – “With Your Dashes
You Made One Clover, One Bee And One Revery.
Even Though The Winter Afternoon Created Clashes
Of The Light That Made Shadows And History”
