For all the poems in this Two Sylvias Press Advent Calendar challenge, visit my musings here.
Prologue: This is a 31 day event that helps poets and authors all over to pen down 31 new poems in the month of December (2025). Every day we can open the calendar for that day to read about the prompt for that day. Then let your imagination fly to infinity with your thoughts and voice.
Note: I am starting late so might post my poems more than one a day. 🙂
For Day 19 the prompt given to us was to write a poem on something whimsical, unverifiable and absurd. Explore an “unreasonable” belief that cant be disproven. Here is my take.
Fairy Ring Of Mushrooms
Walking Across The Meadows After The First Shower
I See Sprouts Of Mushrooms Grow Nearby
But As I Went Closer, It Was Full Of Color Bolder
A Ring Formed For Fairies Even If One Can Deny.
Scientifically It Is A Fungal Growth, Germinates Sending
Out Fine Threads Creating A Circular Network.
These Consume Nutrients, Ring Ever Expanding
Whilst The Center Sometimes Dying, Creating Havoc.
Yet My Fantastic Brain Brings Forth The Fairies
That Dance Around The Ring With Their Brethren
Sometimes Eating The Wildly Grown Wolfberries
Rain Washing Off The Dredges Making Them Freshen
