This song is from the 1976 Indian Hindi-language horror film Nagin (= Female Serpent). Music was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal (Musical duo) while the Lyrics were penned by Verma Malik. The duet version was Sung by Lata Mangeshkar. It was pictured on the famous heroine Reena Roy and Jetendra. This movie was the highest grossing film in 1976 and success shot Reena Roy into a successful star.
The movie was inspired by François Truffaut’s 1968 French film The Bride Wore Black, which was based on Cornell Woolrich’s 1940 novel of the same name. The film was later remade in Tamil in 1979.
Reena Roy, the lead actress in the film, was a guest in the TVs reality show involving singers in that particular episode where this song was sung again. Don’t remember if they sang solo female version or duet version or sad version. Here is the female version of the same song with the transliterated lyrics below.
