This is from the 2004 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film Veer-Zara (= first names of guy and a girl). The film contains Music composed by the late Madan Mohan and revised by his son Sanjeev Kohli. Lyrics penned by Javid Akhtar. Sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Roop Kumar Rathod.
Roop Kumar Rathod, the male singer, came to one of the TV’s reality show involving singers. One of the singers sang this song. In this song we see the mastery of late Madan Mohan and that’s why we see thru the movie parts of this song being used. Javed Akhtar also won the Bollywood Movie Awards, Screen Awards and Filmfare Award from Best Lyricist in 2005. The movie involves sensitive portrayal of India-Pakistan relationships while covering a life-long love story between Veer and Zara.
It took a while for me to love these songs, but now I listen to them often. Everyone commented why Shah Rukh Khan did such a matured role, but it suited him well and Preity Zinta supported him and her role aptly.
Lyrics transliterated:
Tere Liye Hum Hain Jiye, Har Aansoo Piye
Dil Mein Magar Jalte Rahe, Chaahat Ke Diye
Tere Liye, Tere Liye
Tere Liye Hum Hain Jiye, Har Aansoo Piye
Tere Liye Hum Hain Jiye, Honthon Ko Siye
Dil Mein Magar Jalte Rahe, Chaahat Ke Diye
Tere Liye, Tere Liye
Zindagi Le Ke Aayi Hai, Beete Din Ki Kitaab
Ghere Hain Ab Humein, Yaadein Behisaab
Bin Poochhe Mile Mujhe, Kitne Saare Jawaab
Chaaha Tha Kya, Paaya Hai Kya, Humne Dekhiye
Dil Mein Magar Jalte Rahe, Chaahat Ke Diye
Tere Liye, Tere Liye
Kya Kahoon Duniyaa Ne Kiya, Mujh Se Kaisa Bair
Kya Kahoon Duniyaa Ne Kiya, Mujh Se Kaisa Bair
Hukm Tha, Main Jiyoon, Lekin Tere Bagair.
Naadaan Hain Wo, Kehte Hain Jo, Mere Liye Tum Ho Gair
Kitne Sitam, Humpe Sanam, Logon Ne Kiye
Dil Mein Magar Jalte Rahe, Chaahat Ke Diye
Tere Liye, Tere Liye
Tere Liye Hum Hain Jiye, Honthon Ko Siye
Tere Liye Hum Hain Jiye, Har Aansoo Piye
Dil Mein Magar Jalte Rahe, Chaahat Ke Diye
Tere Liye, Tere Liye
Tere Liye, Tere Liye
Tere Liye, Tere Liye
