Recently I watched the 2021 Hallmark romantic movie Chasing Waterfalls, released in July, as part of their “Spring Fling” lineup. The lead actress, Cindy Busby, plays the part of Amy Atwater, a photo journalist who goes to a remote town to find a mythical waterfall. Her co-star Christopher Russell, plays the part of Mark North, the guide at the lodge where she stays in while visiting the town.
That movie inspired me to start my own blog about Chasing Waterfalls, and featuring the local waterfalls in the State of Connecticut where I live, and also may be any waterfalls that I might come across in my trips around America and the World.
First up in my chase are the Wadsworth Big Falls in Middletown, Connecticut, located in the heart of Wadsworth Falls State Park. Named after noted scholar and linguist, Clarence C. Wadsworth, who after settling in Middletown, CT, fought for 40 years to preserve these falls and the 267 acres of natural forest area surrounding it.

Now along with the waterfalls, we can also enjoy scenic trails around it, or simply have a picnic at the base of the falls. You can also do some mountain biking or stream fishing on the Copinchaug River. Check here for more about the hiking trip I did in Wadsworth State Park too.
And here are the two friends that I did the hike with.

There are two waterfalls in the region – Wadsworth Big Falls on the Copinchaug River; and the Little Falls on the Wadsworth Brook. During our hike that we did in May of 2021, we missed the Little Falls. However, my friend went back again and took a picture for me of the Little Falls too.

However the day of the hike, the Wadsworth Big Falls made it up double and plenty, giving us a feast for eyes, ears, soul and mind. Here is a view of it from the top lookout point behind me.

Beautiful pictures and narration
