Prologue: Inspired by the 2021 Hallmark romantic movie Chasing Waterfalls started my own blog, featuring the local waterfalls in the State of Connecticut where I live, and also may be any waterfalls that I might come across in my trips around America and the World. The film was released in July 2021, as part of their “Spring Fling” lineup. The lead actress, Cindy Busby, as Amy Atwater, a photo journalist, goes to a remote town to find a mythical waterfall. Her co-star Christopher Russell, as Mark North is her guide on this enchanted trip.
Now I am chasing these majestic and gorgeous waterfalls. Next up is the Hog’s Back Falls in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
On the last day of our trip to Canada in June of 2022, we stopped at Ottawa. What a surprising treat I got when my friends took me to this gorgeous waterfalls right in the heart of the city. One wouldn’t believe until you see it.
Also known as Prince of Wales Falls, it is a series of waterfalls on the Rideau River located just north of Mooney’s Bay and the point where the Rideau Canal splits from the Rideau River. This is about a 60 feet drop of the falls from the canal to the river.

On one side of the falls there is a walkway that leads to the rocks below. One could climb down them and get closer to Rideau River. On the other side of the falls is the Hog’s Back Park which was developed in the 1980s. The dam that holds the Rideau Canal and drops the falls completes the third side giving a nice hiking / running path for visitors.
On the side of the walkway there is this grilled wall protecting the people from falling off into the Rideau River. However it has become something like Locks of Love Bridge in Paris. People have been putting love locks here. I found one that was marked 30 yrs. Wonder when was the 30 yrs since the lock looks pretty old and rusted.

Finally here we are with the falls as the backdrop.

Closing off with another view of this gorgeous urban falls.
