Prologue: I have been meaning to write a series about Holidays and Observances that we (my family and friends) follow in both India (my birth country) and USA (my adopted country). This series is dedicated to those. On a side note, perhaps I might witness some of the celebrations from other countries as well that may get their way into this series. 🙂
There is No Limit to what we, as Women can Accomplish – Michelle Obama
Every year March 8th is celebrated as International Women’s Day globally focusing on issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women; some of the may that are part of women’s rights movement.
Originated from the female suffrage movement in the early 20th century, it’s a daily struggle for women all over the world in dealing with issues that are mandated by men. Each country has its own issues in this matter, and the fight continues. That is why for me it is everyday that this Day need to be celebrated so more awareness is garnered and hopefully there will truly be a gender equal world.
