Majestic Horologes: Lake George Station

For posts on all kinds of Clocks or Clock Towers I have come across, go here.

Prologue: Have you ever looked at a clock tower and wondered why one was constructed in the first place? This series is for those grand clocks sitting atop a tower or hanging on to a tower wall facing the town and proudly proclaiming the time. I would love to go inside and see the mechanics, but not always possible.

The Lake George Railroad Station in Lake George, New York, was once an active station for the Delaware – Hudson railway line. It houses a seasonal gift shop along with few local small businesses in the adjoining Steamboat Store. The important fact for me though was the Clock Tower on one end of the building showcasing a small clock but is guarded by four soldiers dressed in attires from Civil War and before.

Here is the closeup view of the tower.

And the tower viewed from The Steamboat Store side.
