Holidays & Observances: Spring Equinox

For all the posts in this Holidays & Observances series, go here.

Prologue: I have been meaning to write a series about Holidays and Observances that we (my family and friends) follow in both India (my birth country) and USA (my adopted country). This series is dedicated to those. On a side note, perhaps I might witness some of the celebrations from other countries as well that may get their way into this series. šŸ™‚

The mid-point between Winter Solstice and Summer Solstice is Spring (Vernal) Equinox which was on March 20th this year (2023) in the Northern Hemisphere. It also was the New Moon Day. This is the day when the Day and Night have equal hours meaning Earth is receiving sun’s rays equally in both hemispheres.

I went to a restorative yoga and sound meditation on this day. The place I went had glass windows on all sides of the room giving us opportunity to soak up everything from the setting sun and enjoy the calmness of the rising stars. It was a beautiful experience and truly rejuvenated. Although I have a tough time to sit still so naturally I was more awake than in deep meditation. šŸ˜›
