Holidays & Observances: Cinco De Mayo

For all the posts in this Holidays & Observances series, go here.

Prologue: I have been meaning to write a series about Holidays and Observances that we (my family and friends) follow in both India (my birth country) and USA (my adopted country). This series is dedicated to those. On a side note, perhaps I might witness some of the celebrations from other countries as well that may get their way into this series. šŸ™‚

This year (2023) on May 5th Mexicans all over celebrate the successful win by the Mexican Army led by Ignacio Zaragoza over French army at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.. This led to the resistance forces rising and eventual freedom from Napoleon forces making it a historical significant event in Mexican History.

Festivities include lots of Mexican Food, Margaritas, Mexican Beer and in general celebration of history of Mexico.
