This song is from the 1953 Indian Telugu-language romantic drama film Devadasu (= A drunkard). The script was based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s Indian Bengali-language 1917 novel, Devdas. The film was produced in Telugu and Tamil languages (the latter titled Devadas) with slightly different casts. This has become a cult status and gave into several remakes of this movie: the 1959 Indian Hindi-language with Dilip Kumar as Devadas; 1978 Indian Telugu-language Devadasu Malli Puttadu with Krishna as Devadas, and the Hindi movie from 1959 was remade into Devdas with SRK as Devadas.

In one of the interview Dilip Kumar mentioned that there is only one Devadas and it is Akkineni Nageswara Rao who played the lead actor in this movie. Akkineni mentioned in one interview that to portray a drunk, he had not eaten for two days to get the perfect profile.

There is so much one can write about this movie. This is one of the movies that reflects the lives of Devadas and Parvati, failure and jilted lovers. Devadas has a superior complex and very arrogant the girl waits for him. It takes a whole post to write about the movie. Music was composed by C. R. Subbaraman the Lyrics penned by Samudrala Sr. This is one of the songs that was sung twice.

One as a duet by Ghantasala and Jikki. This is the more popular one.

The other as sung by two female singers, K. Jamuna Rani and Udutha Sarojini. This is when the lead actor and actress, ANR and Savitri, are younger versions when they were kids. Never heard this one before.
