Diaries: Jaipur Day 1 – Albert Hall Museum

To see about all my travel diaries, go here.

Prologue: A fun series that documents my travels.

Next up on Day 1 was a visit to the oldest museum of State of Rajasthan, India, and was originally built in 1887 and named after King Edward VII (Albert Edward), the Prince of Wales.

The museum has a rich collection of artifacts including paintings, jewelry, ivory, stone (from the 10th century onwards), metal sculptures, and works in crystal. Also there is a large hall displaying some splendid carpets featuring Persian, Mughal and Indian carpets.  A room was dedicated to stone structures from Nepal, mostly depicting Hindu mythology. We saw some brass idols too. Don’t miss the armory of that century too.

And here is my signature twirling pose.

I think we all went into the museum to escape heat as it was close to 105F that day. Cause what we saw we could see in an regional museum of any state in India, even at Salar Jung Museum in Hyderabad, India where my home town is.
