For all songs in this series, go here

This song is from the 1968 Indian Hindi-language musical comedy film Padosan (= Female Neighbor). I posted a few songs a while ago. Here is another one.

It is a remake of the Indian Bengali-language film Pasher Bari (1952) based on a short story of the same name by Arun Chowdhury. The short story in in turn was considered to be an adaptation of the French play Cyrano de Bergerac (1897) by Edmond Rostand. The film was also made in Indian Telugu-languare Pakkinti Amaayi twice – one n once in 1953 and other one in 1981.

Music was composed by R. D. Burman to the Lyrics penned by Rajendra Krishan. Sung by Kishore Kumar.

Lyrics transliterated:

Arey Hai; La La La La La La La; La La La La La La Lah

Hmmm Hey hey

Mere Saamne Waali Khidki Mein; Ek Chaand Ka Tukra Rehta Hai

Mere Saamne Waali Khidki Mein; Ek Chaand Ka Tukra Rehta Hai

Afsos Ye Hai Ke Woh Humse; Kuch Ukhra Ukhra Rehta Hai

Mere Saamne Waali Khidki Mein; Ek Chaand Ka Tukra Rehta Hai

Jis Roz Se Dekha Hai Usko; Hum Shamaa Jalaana Bhool Gaye

Jis Roz Se Dekha Hai Usko; Hum Shamaa Jalaana Bhool Gaye

Dil Thaam Ke Aise Baithe Hain; Kaheen Aana Jaana Bhool Gaye

Ab Aath Pehar In Aankhon Mein; Wo Chanchal Mukhra Rehta Hai

Mere Saamne Waali Khidki Mein; Ek Chaand Ka Tukda Rehta Hai

Barsaat Bhi Aakar Chali Gayi; Baadal Bhi Garaj Kar Baras Gaye

Barsaat Bhi Aakar Chali Gayi; Baadal Bhi Garaj Kar Baras Gaye

Par Uski Aik Jhalak Ko Hum; Aye Husn Ke Maalik Taras Gaye

Kab Pyaas Bujhegi Aankhon Ki; Din Raat Ye Dukhra Rehta Hai

Mere Saamne Waali Khidki Mein; Ek Chaand Ka Tukra Rehta Hai

Afsos Ye Hai Ke Woh Humse; Kuchh Ukhra Ukhra Rehta Hai

Mere Saamne Waali Khidki Mein; Ek Chaand Ka Tukda Rehta Hai
